His Instagram account reads: “My Dreams are my wings”.

These are the words he uses to introduce himself. Federico Morlacchi, Polha Varese card member since 2002, joins the Italian National Team for the first time in 2009 at the Mediterranean Games in Pescara. Then at the IPC Swimming European Championships in Reykjavik, where he wins 2 bronze medals, and again at the 2011 IPC Swimming European Championships in Berlin, where he mounts the podium on the silver level. In 2010, thanks to a LEN’s invitation, he takes part in the Short Course European Championships in Eindhoven, where he achieves a third place in the 100 m butterfly. He hits the peak of his career in 2012, with the participation to the London 2012 Paralympic Games: Federico wins three bronze medals. Between 2013 and 2014, he swims both at World and European Championships, and he becomes European and World Champion by winning 8 medals, 6 of which are gold. And by breaking the 60 second mark for the first time. In April 2015, at the International Meeting in Berlin, he swims under 59 seconds in the 100 m butterfly, setting the new World Record in his category. And three months later, at the Glasgow IPC Swimming World Championships, Federico wins 3 silvers and one gold, and he confirms himself as world champion. At the European Championships in Funchal, Portugal, on May 2016, Federico acts as major player by winning 5 golds, one silver and one bronze. At Rio de Janeiro 2016 Paralympic Games he wins Italy’s first gold medal in the 200 m medley, but he wants more: he gains three silver medals and becomes paralympic world number two respectively in the 100 m butterfly, in the 100 m breaststroke and in the 400 m freestyle.
